Sims Freeplay | A Guide to Pregnancy

With the Pregnancy Update in June 2018 Sims Freeplay added a long awaited feature into the game - pregnancy. Previously to have a baby in Sims Freeplay we simply clicked on an empty cot, selected 'add baby' and waited 24 hours for the baby to just appear in the cot.  Things have got a whole lot more interesting with the pregnancy update so let's take a look at how pregnancy works in Sims Freeplay.

Now when you click on an empty cot there are three options - two are pregnancy related and one is the old 'add a baby' in 24 hours option where you get a baby without going through pregnancy. But who wants to do that? Let's look at the new and more interesting options of how to have a baby with pregnancy.

A great new feature that's been added is that sims no longer need to be married to have a baby. The only requirement is that your sim is an adult female.  When your sim is pregnant they have maternity leave which means they can't take part in professions, careers, hobbies or live events until the give birth.

To have a pregnant sim you need to first complete the Two and a Half Sims Quest which unlocks babies and the Bump-y Ride Discovery Quest which unlocks pregnancy. Once these have been completed you can see the three baby options when you click on a crib.
  • Pregnancy Event
  • Pregnancy
  • Add a Baby

Pregnancy Event - a full pregnancy experience with rewards

  • Takes 9 days to complete and each day represents 1 month of pregnancy
  • Costs 2 LPs to begin
  • There are daily goals to be completed by the pregnant sim each day of the pregnancy
  • There are support tasks to be completed throughout the event by other sims
  • If you complete the daily goals every day and the support tasks your new sim will earn baby bonuses - they will earn more experience points, complete actions faster, they're not affected by low needs
  • If you don't manage to complete all the daily goals one day it will go straight to the next day and you won't be able to earn the baby bonus for that baby
  • By completing the daily goals and support tasks you will earn maternity tokens which are used in the maternity store to buy maternity clothes and nursery furniture
  • Days 1,2 and 3 are the first trimester and your pregnant sim will look like any other adult, female sim
  • Days 4,5 and 6 are the second trimester and at the beginning of day 4 your sim will get a pregnancy baby bump
  • Days 7,8 and 9 are the third trimester and at the beginning of day 7 the baby bump will get bigger
  • You can only have one pregnancy event at a time

Pregnancy - grow a baby bump
  • Takes 6 days
  • Costs 5 LPs
  • There are no daily goals or support tasks
  • You can't earn maternity tokens
  • Your sim has a baby bump throughout the 6 days
  • The baby won't have any baby bonuses
  • You can have as many pregnancies as you want at the same time

Add a baby - receive a baby in 24 hours
  • The original way to have a baby
  • Takes 1 day
  • Costs 32,500 simoleons
  • Your sim won't be pregnant and won't get a baby bump
  • The baby won't have any baby bonuses
  • You can only add one baby at a time

Sims Freeplay | Bump-y Ride Quest

Pregnancy is here in Sims Freeplay! Once you complete the Two and a Half Sims Quest a new discovery quest becomes available to you - the Bump-y Ride quest.

To access the quest you will need to build the Maternity Store in Sim Town.  The store is over by the Teen Idol sign, next to the Real Estate Agency. Once the store is built the quest will begin. Remember, this is a discovery quest and you can only complete one discovery quest at a time so if you are in the middle of another, you will have to complete that one before you can begin this. Completing the quest unlocks pregnancy for your adult female sims.

The price and number of sims needed to build the maternity store will vary depending on how many community buildings you have already built.

Have a Doctor explain pregnancies - 30 seconds (call a Doctor using a phone and they will appear at that house, then click on the Doctor)

Talk pregnancies with a sim - 30 seconds

Purchase the maternity outfit from the maternity store - black and grey outfit costs 500 maternity tokens. (Your sims can only wear maternity clothes when they are pregnant.)

Place an empty crib - buy one from the infant section of the home store.

Start the pregnancy event. For this you will need an adult female sim.  Sims on longer need to be married to have a baby. Both couples and single female sims can get pregnant. The pregnancy event takes 9 days. Click on the crib and select the pregnancy event option and select the adult female sim you want to become pregnant.

The 9 day pregnancy event has now begun.

Select sim icon - click on the pregnancy event button in the top left corner of the screen, then click on the picture of your sim.

View pregnancy daily goals - click on the pregnancy event tab again in the top left.  Daily goals must be completed by the pregnant sim and they have 9 days of goals they must complete. If you don't complete one days goals you will go straight on to the next days goals - you just won't get the baby bonus at the end of the event. You must complete each days goals to receive the baby bonus.

View pregnancy support tasks - click again on the pregnancy event tab. Support tasks can be completed by any sim and you need to complete all of the support tasks within the 9 days to earn the baby bonus.

View the baby bonus - go back to the pregnancy tab and click the 'i' above the picture of the mother and child baby bonus.

Completing all the daily goals each day and all the support tasks will earn bonuses for the baby that will be born. They will earn more XP, complete actions faster, will not be affected by low motives and they will have the bonuses for their entire life.

Complete the pregnancy event.

Completing the event will take 9 days and during the 9 days you will need to complete all 9 days of the daily goals done by the pregnant sim and all support tasks to earn the baby bonus.  After the 9 days the new baby will be born. Each day in the event represents a month in pregnancy. Days 1,2 and 3 are the first trimester. Days 4,5 and 6 are the second trimester and the baby bump will appear at the start of day 4 and they can wear maternity clothes. Days 7,8 and 9 are the third trimester and the baby bump will get bigger at the start of day 7.

QUEST IS NOW COMPLETE.

Pregnancy has been unlocked and you will have different options when you click on a crib. You can those between two pregnancy options and the old 'add a baby' option.

Pregnancy event - takes 9 days and costs 2 LPs. You will have the daily goals and support tasks to complete and you can earn maternity tokens. Your baby is born after 9 days.
Pregnancy - takes 6 days and costs 5LPs. There are no daily goals or support tasks to complete. Your sim will grow a baby bump and be able to wear maternity clothes. Your baby is born after 6 days.
Add a baby - takes a day and costs 32,500. This is the old add a baby option that we used to have before pregnancy. The baby will be delivered by a stork to your crib in 24 hours.

Sims Freeplay | Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow Live Event

Sims Freeplay introduced a new Live Event in to the game on 26th December 2017 - Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow Live Event.  The event lasts for 10 days and you can unlock new hairstyles and salon themed items.

During this event the aim is to collect arts and crafts items from the four different arts and craft stations that are found in the Event tab of Buy Mode

If you have completed previous Live Events your arts and crafts stations will either be in your inventory or in the house you left them.  You will only be able to use the candle stations at the start of the event until you unlock the other stations throughout the event.

There is a short tutorial at the beginning of the event to explain how it works so if you follow the instructions you should get off to a good start.

Place a crafting station (find the candle station in the Events tab of Buy Mode or in your inventory) - you can only buy 4

Make some arts and crafts items (click on the candle station to make) - 23 secs

Restock a crafting station.
When the stock runs out in a crafting station you  have to restock it before you can make anymore arts and crafts. You can restock instantly for 18 uses for 10SP or restock for 2 uses which will take 10 seconds this time.

You've now collected enough candles to unlock the first prize in the event - the Fancy 'Foliage' pack. Go into the Prize Progress tab by clicking on the Hair Event button in the top left corner of the screen

You will be able to purchase the Fancy 'Foliage' pack for 50 candles.  Throughout the event when you unlock each prize you need to purchase them in the Event Progress section before the items are available in your Home Store

Use the coin flower patch (buy the coin flower patch from the Event tab and select the spin plant option)

Check the daily goals (click on the Event button and click on the Daily Goals tab (the one with the tick) and claim the rewards that you can claim.
Remember to come back daily and claim all the rewards. They reset every 24 hours.

Collect bonuses.
After collecting for a short period of time you will see the arts and crafts icon appear above your Sims heads. Click to get bonus arts and crafts items.

Continue collecting arts and crafts items.
This is the last step in the tutorial but the event is definitely not over. Keep collecting the arts and crafts to unlock everything.
