There are many different hobbies in Sims Freeplay and the developers are constantly adding new hobbies when they update the game. Each hobby can only be completed by a certain age group of Sim (which you can find out more about in life stages)
Not all hobbies are available at the beginning of the game (in fact none of them are when you first begin), you have to build certain buildings, or be at a certain level, or complete certain quests, or even complete other hobbies before you can begin each hobby.
All hobbies (except Ballet and Karate) have collections which you will win one of the collectables by completing actions in the hobby. The collectable you win is awarded at random. Each hobby has levels within it and your Sims must reach the highest level to collect all of the collectables. To increase a Sims level simply continue to practise the hobby and as you do and increase levels additional objects will become unlocked and have a random chance of being obtained when performing the hobby. Some collectables within certain hobbies require specific actions to be performed.
Some hobbies unlock unique items or areas for purchase once the collection is complete. Once you have completed the hobby once and unlocked the prize you can complete the hobby collection again for additional prizes or Life Points. Some hobbies have a time limited prize for completing the entire collection.
